Itinerary

Oviedo - Gijon - Llanes

Welcome aboard the train at Oviedo station and begin this rail journey along the Cantabrian coast. After settling into your suite, we'll travel to Gijón to discover a city deeply connected to the sea and known for its vibrant culture and gastronomy. In the afternoon, we'll return to Oviedo to explore the historic center of the Asturian capital before continuing our journey to Llanes. While enjoying dinner on board, the train will travel along the Cantabrian coast. Overnight in Llanes.

Oviedo is a city that stands out for its important architectural complexes, many of them declared World Heritage Sites such as the Cathedral of Oviedo, the church of Santa Maria del Naranco and the chapel of San Miguel de Lillo. Other places of interest are the Old Town with its Museum of Fine Arts which houses works by El Greco, Picasso. Gijon, cosmopolitan and hospitable city of incredible nature, with impressive buildings such as "La Laboral ciudad de la Cultura", the Aquarium, the Botanical Garden and the Talasoponiente. Other interesting options to visit are Cimadevilla, old fishermen's quarter and the gardens of the Queen. Attracted by its famous carnival "Antroxu", and the festivities of San Juan and San Pedro, among others. It is worth trying its "Cordero a la estaca", one of its most delicious dishes. Read more

Llanes – Picos de Europa - Cabezon de la Sal

After breakfast, we'll venture into the spectacular Picos de Europa mountains, exploring some of the most iconic landscapes of northern Spain, including mountains, lakes, and charming villages steeped in tradition. After lunch, we'll return to the coast for free time in Llanes before continuing our train journey to Cantabria. Dinner will be on board, and we'll spend the night in Cabezón de la Sal.

The day begins with a visit to the Altamira replica cave, followed by a trip to Santillana del Mar, one of Spain's most beautiful and best-preserved medieval towns. After lunch, we continue our journey by train to Santander, an elegant city overlooking the bay and the Cantabrian Sea. Enjoy free time to soak up the atmosphere before dinner. It is famous for its International Music Festival, with dance and opera performances. It is beautiful for its green areas, such as the parks of La Marga and Morales or the Pereda Gardens. Santander – Bilbao – San Sebastian

During breakfast, the Transcantábrico departs for Bilbao. Upon arrival, we'll say goodbye to the crew and the train before visiting this vibrant city, which has successfully reinvented itself after the decline of its traditional heavy industry. The city tour includes admission to the renowned Guggenheim Museum, a symbol of this new Bilbao. After the visit, we'll travel to San Sebastián, where we'll have lunch and conclude our services around 4:30 pm.
