Departure flight to OR Tambo Airport, in the city of Johannesburg, via international hub. Night on board. Depending on the chosen flight option, the departure might be on Day 2 of the itinerary, arriving at the destination on the same day instead of the following day.
Arrival and private transfer to the hotel. Johannesburg is one of the largest and most vibrant cities in Africa. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to the southern part of the continent. Although it is not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a multicultural mix of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks, and ultra-modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries, and it is possible to enjoy organized tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is the best in Southern Africa and the numerous restaurants cater to all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg's most popular tourist attraction. Rest of the day at leisure and accommodation.
Breakfast and transfer to the Irene Country Lodge, where the check-in process takes place and where we can enjoy some snacks and drinks while waiting for the shuttle to Irene Station, from where the train departs. The Blue Train boasts excellent cuisine accompanied by a wide selection of South African wines sourced only from some of the best vineyards. We will enjoy the spectacular scenery as the train begins its journey through South African lands. Dinner on the Blue Train is a serious affair, and we will need to dress elegantly for the occasion. After dinner, we can enjoy drinks, cognacs, and Cuban cigars in the Club car. Overnight on board.
After breakfast, we will arrive at Kimberley station. Disembark and depart by bus to the Mine Museum (weather permitting, as it is outdoors). On the way, we will visit some interesting and historic sites. Of course, we will also have the opportunity to photograph the spectacular "Big Hole." Upon returning to the station, we will be greeted with a glass of sherry. The sherry glass, engraved with The Blue Train logo, will be a nice souvenir that we can take with us. Lunch and free afternoon as we enjoy the bright landscapes unfolding before us. Dinner as the train continues toward Cape Town. Overnight on board.
Breakfast and arrival at Cape Town station where we will disembark. Private transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Accommodation. For these days in Cape Town, we have the Cape Town Pass, which we can collect at the Waterfront, where our hotel is located. The Cape Town Pass includes certain entrances to tourist attractions, as well as open-top hop-on/hop-off bus routes and a shared full-day excursion to the Cape Peninsula, conducted in English (does not include the cable car entrance fee). Accommodation.
Breakfast. Day at leisure to explore the city with our Cape Town Pass. Cape Town is one of the most cosmopolitan and vibrant cities on the African continent. Its spectacular nature, magnificent beaches, nightlife, and surrounding areas make Cape Town a unique city that offers experiences for all types of travelers and adventurers. From whale watching in Hermanus (July to November), to diving with great white sharks in Gansbaai (from the safety of a cage), to hiking up Table Mountain... the possibilities are countless. Not forgetting the pleasure of having a coffee at the famous Victoria & Alfred Waterfront or strolling along the always lively Long Street or the splendid Company's Garden. Accommodation
Breakfast. We will enjoy a full-day excursion to the Cape Peninsula with our Cape Town Pass. Visiting the Cape of Good Hope is almost a must. It is a place with a special atmosphere. It might be due to its breathtaking beauty, the stunning landscape, its legend of being wild and untamed, the waves crashing against the rocks, or the untamed sea that gave it the nickname "Cape of Storms." Visiting the Cape is an awe-inspiring experience. Not even the best camera in the world is capable of capturing the sublime beauty of this place. Therefore, we recommend taking the funicular (or alternative transport when closed) to enjoy the magnificence of this place in all its splendor. Accommodation.
Breakfast. Free time. At the scheduled time, private transfer to the airport to depart on a flight to the city of origin, via international hub. Overnight on board.
