Oviedo - Viveiro (Sunday)

Luggage pick up between 12:00 hrs. to 15:30 hrs. at the offices of the Luxury Tourist Trains at Oviedo Train Station. At 16:30 hrs. guided tour of the city of Oviedo, capital of the Kingdom of Asturias, and today of the Principality. It has a historic center of undeniable medieval flavor. Welcome toast on board the Expreso de La Robla train, presentation of the crew and accommodation. Dinner on board, while the train starts the Pilgrim's Route and heads to Viveiro (Galicia). Overnight on board the train.

Oviedo is a city that stands out for its important architectural complexes, many of them declared World Heritage Sites such as the Cathedral of Oviedo, the church of Santa María del Naranco and the chapel of San Miguel de Lillo. Other places of interest are the Old Town with its Museum of Fine Arts which houses works by El Greco, Picasso. Viveiro (Monday)

Early arrival in Viveiro. We start the morning enjoying our delicious buffet breakfast. After breakfast, transfer by bus to Ferrol for those pilgrims who wish to cover the first stage: Ferrol - Pontedeume (26 km). For those who prefer not to walk, transfer by bus to Cabo de Estaca de Bares, known for being the northernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula.

Later visit of Bares beach and O Barqueiro, with free time for lunch. In the afternoon, transfer of the hikers to the train, on the other hand, pick up the walkers in Pontedeume to return to Viveiro, besides its spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches, this charming village has an important artistic heritage. Free time for dinner and overnight on board in Viveiro.

Viveiro combines its natural beauty with the cultural, "gems" as the Gate of Charles V, the Bridge of Mercy, the House of Lions and the Franciscan convent, along with the Church of Santiago, declared a National Monument. Easter Week is its most important festival. The "Rapa das Bestas de Candaoso" and "La Romería de Naseiro" are festivals of national tourist interest. Viveiro - Ortigueira (Tuesday)

While we have breakfast, the Expreso de La Robla train will go to Ortigueira. From here we will bring the pilgrims by bus to Pontedeume, to start the second stage to Abegondo (31 km). For the hikers we will visit the Sanctuary of San Andrés de Teixido and Cedeira, with free time for lunch. In the afternoon, transfer of the hikers to the train and pick up the walkers in Abegondo to return to Ortigueira. Free time for dinner. Night in Ortigueira.

Ortigueira - Ferrol (Wednesday)

After a full breakfast on board the train, the bus will take the pilgrims to the starting point of the third stage Abegondo - A Calle (25 Km). The rest of the passengers, with the bus, will approach A Coruña, the history of this city keeps a close link with its old fishing and trading port and where they will spend the morning, enjoying free time and lunch. In the afternoon, return to the train in Ferrol, a town full of contrasts that maintains the charm of its seafaring origins in its streets and traditions. Tonight we will enjoy dinner together in a typical Galician pulperia. Night in Ferrol.

Ferrol is a unique city, historic for being the starting point of the English pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela for pilgrims from Northern Europe. Its heritage, Ferrol of the Enlightenment (Magdalena neighborhood), is an aspiring UNESCO World Heritage Site. It also has the Route of the Meninas, in the neighborhood of Canido, and the Route of Modernism. Some beaches have the Blue Flag distinction. Read more

A Coruña is a Spanish city, important historical port belonging to the Galician community, famous is its Roman lighthouse, the Tower of Hercules, which offers spectacular views of this part of the Galician coast. Ferrol - Santiago de Compostela - Oviedo (Thursday)

After breakfast on board, the pilgrims will be transferred by bus to the start of the fourth and last stage, which will take them from A Calle to Santiago de Compostela (27 km). Once they arrive in Santiago, they will have free time until the afternoon. For the rest of the passengers, departure by bus from Ferrol to Santiago de Compostela, whose historic center was declared World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Free time in the Galician capital. In the late afternoon, return of both pilgrims and tourists to the Expreso de La Robla train in Ferrol. During the catering dinner on board, the train will head towards Oviedo. Overnight on board.

Oviedo (Friday)

Early arrival in Oviedo. Breakfast on board and farewell to the crew and the Expreso de La Robla train, to finish the trip around 11:00 hrs.

Note of interest (itinerary 2023): Departure days will be on Sundays and return on Fridays.
The first day luggage collection from 12:00 h. to 15:30 h. at the Renfe station (Oviedo) under the slab (1st floor in front of the Metric Width Offices). At 16:30 guided tour of the city of Oviedo.

The express of La Robla will be used as a Pilgrim's Hotel Train, being able to make on foot stretches of the English Way of St. James or excursions and visits. With obtaining the Compostela. The trip departs from Oviedo and ends in Oviedo.
