Itinerary

León - Valporquero - Cistierna (Friday)

Luggage pick up from 13:30 hrs. to 14:30 hrs. at the León FEVE Station. Then, our coach will take us to San Feliz where our train, Expreso de La Robla, will be waiting for us. Presentation of the crew, accommodation in our cabin and transfer to Matallana. From here, by coach we will cross the spectacular Hoces de Vegacervera and arrive at Valporquero, where we will visit its extraordinary caves, famous for their stalactites, stalagmites and lava flows of capricious shapes, as well as its impressive Gran Rotonda, with 100,000 m3 of subway emptiness. Afterwards, return to the train to head for Cistierna. Dinner and overnight on board.

It is a place with good tourist options, besides being one of the cities of the Camino de Santiago. It stands out for its impressive cathedral of Santa Maria or the Basilica of San Isidro in addition to modern buildings such as the Auditorium of the City and the Museum of Contemporary Art and many others. San Feliz, Castilla y León

A small town, but very well connected thanks to its railroad line. Ideal for strolling through its streets and roads to appreciate its houses and noble houses with ancestral profiles, such as the Casa Solariega de San Feliz. Its festival of "San Feliz de Torío" is very important. One of its longest traditions is the pig slaughter, which is usually celebrated during the long weekend of the Constitution and also at Christmas. Read more

Cistierna (Castilla y León)

Beautiful, green and picturesque city, where the visitor can enjoy its tranquility in nature, besides visiting places like "La Ermita de San Guillermo", where it houses a beautiful altarpiece of the seventeenth century. Another place of interest to take into account is the Church of Santa Maria, currently its Cultural Exhibition Center. In Cistierna you will be able to taste delicious dishes such as its cocido montañés, typical of the region. Read more

Cistierna - Románico Palentino - Espinosa de Los Monteros (Saturday)

Breakfast on board as we arrive in Guardo (Palencia). From here in our bus we will visit the Roman Villa of La Olmeda with its magnificent collection of mosaics. After this visit, we will go to visit one of the best Romanesque art sites in Europe in the middle of the Camino de Santiago: Saldaña, Carrión de los Condes, of medieval origin and that is evident in some of its monuments and in its old town and Frómista, capital of the Romanesque Palencia, where we will have lunch. After visiting the impressive Temple of San Martin and the Canal de Castilla, which is one of the most important engineering works of its time and its construction lasted almost a century. Return to the train to go to Espinosa de los Monteros, a beautiful village of Las Merindades in Burgos. Dinner and overnight in Espinosa de los Monteros.

Espinosa de los Monteros - Bilbao (Sunday)

While having breakfast on board the Expreso de La Rola train we will cross the incredible scenery of the Mena Valley until we reach Bilbao. Visit, cosmopolitan city that has evolved towards modernity without losing its traditional identity, and famous for its world famous Guggenheim museum. Free time to finish the trip at approximately 14:00 hrs.

Mena Valley, Castilla y León

The city, in a region of great biodiversity and impressive natural beauty, has a rich historical and artistic Romanesque and Gothic heritage, such as the Church of Santa María de Siones and San Lorenzo de Vallejo. Other important Gothic churches are the Chapel of Santa Ana and the Church of Millán de Irús. Its historic center is considered an Asset of Cultural Interest. The puchero menés is its most traditional dish.

Bilbao (Basque Country)

Bilbao, a cosmopolitan city full of life that has evolved towards modernity without losing its traditional identity. Famous not only for its "Cathedral of Santiago", declared a World Heritage Site in 2015, but also for its Guggenheim Museum, considered one of the most important works of the contemporary world for its beauty and great cultural value.
